Restoring an Old Doll Part 2

Washing Doll Clothes

I know it has been a while since my last blog, but I wanted to post part 2 of my Restoring an Old Doll series. so here is part 2.

Once you have washed your doll's hair now it is time for the clothes. That's if your doll still has clothes, if not you will probably have to get some new doll clothes or make them yourself. I will talk more about that in a future post. Ok here is what you will need to wash your doll's clothes.

- The doll clothes
-  Laundry Detergent ( just a little bit)
-  A cup of  cold/warm water ( that all depends on the color of the doll clothes)

Just put a drop of detergent on the doll clothes and dunk into the water. If there are stains make sure you put a little bit of detergent on the stain and let it soak in the water. Once you have finished washing the doll clothes, get a towel and make sure to press down on the clothes to get all of the excess water out. Then let dry overnight by morning the clothes should be dry.

Now your doll has a clean outfit.

Restoring and Old Doll part 1

Washing Doll Hair

As a child I loved playing with Dolls, but then my childhood ended and I stopped playing with dolls and started collecting them. I even kept some of my old dolls that I played with as a child. I guess I just could not let go of my youth. The dolls I kept were not in the best shape so I decided to restore them. Now I am going to tell you how to wash and restore your doll's hair.

Step 1. The Doll
Step 2. Wash the doll's hair. You can use shampoo but not too much or use fabric softener but dilute it with water.
Step 3.  Pat the doll's hair with a towel make sure you get all the water out. So it will be damp not soaking wet. Then let the hair dry overnight.
Step 4. Style the hair . Now that your doll's hair is dry it is easier to comb through it and can be styled.

Now your doll's hair is back to it's former glory.

Starting a Doll Collection

Starting a doll collection can be hard, but fear not, I am here to tell you how to start your very own doll collection. Here are some tips to help you get started.

1. The type of doll: I mostly collect Barbie dolls but you can collect any doll. There are all types of dolls out there to collect. Find one that best suits your taste.

2. Theme: Sometimes a doll collection can be based on a theme like Holiday dolls, Wedding dolls, dolls from TV shows and movies, etc. This is a great way to start your collection.

3. Most important tip: Collecting should be fun.  Go for it!
